Penn Psychiatric Center has a formal internship program for graduate students in psychology and/or social work. These internships are tailored to individual school requirements for requisite direct-client-contact and supervision hours. Master’s level interns are not paid and do not receive stipends.
“Theory into Practice”
The focus of the internship program is to provide students with clinical experiences designed to foster their transition into professional therapists. Students will work with clients for intake interviews, treatment planning, and clinical sessions. Students will also receive individual supervision and attend departmental supervision groups, in addition to participating in peer supervision opportunities with their fellow interns. Interns will learn and develop their administrative and documentation skills as they oversee a diverse caseload of 10 to 20 outpatient clients. This caseload will include adults, children, and adolescents with individual and couples therapy and group counseling opportunities.
